2nd Leanne Music Competition

Welcome to the Leanne Music Competition!
The plan for this is to become a great annual event in beautiful Fall River, Nova Scotia, that celebrates incredible young local talent. For one weekend in May talented young musicians will showcase their skills and compete in piano, guitar, strings and singing.
There are awesome prizes for the winners of each category, as well as a final winners gala concert, where they are going to share the stage with some of the best Nova Scotia's professional musicians!
The competition is named after a young Canadian writer Leanne Nicole.
Information and Requirements
The competition takes place on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, 2025 at St. John's United Church in Fall River. There are 4 categories: piano, guitar, strings and vocal.
There are 2 age groups for piano, guitar, strings and vocal:
1. Junior - from 7 to 12 years of age.
2. Senior - from 13 to 17 years of age.
Songs for the vocal competition are in English or French language only. Lyrics of the selected songs have to be submitted.
All participants require to perform 1 or 2 music compositions of any music genre. The entire performance should be no longer than 8 minutes.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your competition group's start time.
Participants may include 1 accompanist or a backtrack recording for their performance. We may require additional information on which instrument your accompanist is playing or what is the format of your backtrack recording.
There is a free admission for participant's music teachers and accompanists.

Winners announcements and awards are going to take place right after each group's competition.
